Seasonal Savvy About Your Home

Labor Day is almost upon us and soon after, you could be stowing your barbecue tools and folding the beach umbrella until next summer rolls around. Getting your home ready for a change in the weather is something we at No Worry Home – homeowners ourselves! – strive to get a jump on. Naturally, this comes with a One-Stop Home Maintenance Membership.

In addition to our regular preventive maintenance services, we use this seasonal check list of items that typically need extra attention before school days and sweatshirt weather arrive. Filter and battery changes and handyman-type repairs are included in our regular service. You can count on us to recommend trusted vendors for items like HVAC repairs, cleaning gutters, power washing, servicing snowblower and grill, and replenishing firewood as needed. Preparing your house in early fall is key to ensuring comfort, safety and energy-efficiency in the colder months.

  1. HVAC checkup (oil burners, natural gas fired units, propane units, geothermal, pellet stove.) No Worry Home inspects and makes recommendations for any repairs as needed, andthe reputable pros to do them.
  1. We replace air filters and clean ducts to ensure efficient airflow. Test thermostat and replace batteries. We clean dryer lint traps and ducts to ensure dryer units are running properly.
  1. We use a drone with a camera to inspect the roof and chimney, checking for missing, damaged or loose shingles or signs of leaks before heavy rains and snow. We’ll make recommendations for repairs and an expert from our list to tackle these items. Your fireplace also gets a checkup.
  1. Firewood stock: we arrange to replenish as needed with a reputable supplier.
  1. We inspect and take care of minor insulation fixes in attics, basement crawl spaces, water supply lines and ductwork. For larger jobs, we’ll recommend a trusted insulation vendor.
  1. Late fall is a good time to schedule a gutter cleaning to ensure downspouts are free of blockages and direct water away from the foundation. We inspect gutters with drone or ladder and recommend a reliable gutter pro.
  1. Your snowblower needs an annual servicing by a specialist. Glad to help with that. We’ll check supplies of rock salt and sand and replenish as needed. Locate your shovels/equipment before the first winter storm hits.
  1. Storm door, garage door and window seals – we got you covered with inspection and repairs during our regularly scheduled visits.
  1. After that last barbecue, we recommend you hose off patio furniture, clean grill and cover or store indoors.
  1.  Happy to recommend a power washing service for your deck or patio. As homeowners, we take our cue from dropping night temperatures to drain and store hoses and shut off exterior faucets to prevent freezing.

Becoming seasonally savvy about your home is a snap with the home preventive maintenance pros at No Worry Home. Grab our check list and schedule a zero-commitment, 30-minute appointment with us before the gold leaves turn to brown.
